The time it takes to have a document notarized varies depending on the number of documents and the number of signatures that need to be notarized. We can provide you with an estimated time frame for the completion of your notary services when you schedule your appointment.
The State of Texas requires notaries to verify the identification of every signer. Only valid, non-expired identification, with a photograph is acceptable.
If you don’t know the signer personally and they lack a valid ID, you can enlist a credible person to identify the signer. A credible person is someone who knows the document signer personally.
In Texas, a credible witness can be used to identify a signer who has no identification. Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code Chapter 121, §121.005 states that the oath of a credible witness “personally known” to the officer may be used in such situations. Currently, the codes does not provide a definition for “personally known.” According to the Texas Secretary of State’s Office, a judge will determined the meaning of “personally known” if the notarized document is ever be disputed or challenged in a court of law.
To proceed with such a notarization, the notary, the signer, and the credible witness must all be present at the time of the execution of the notarization. The credible witness must swear to the following:
Yes! We offer free cancellations up to 2 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time. Rescheduling is free as long as the notary has not left for the appointment. At this time, the state of Texas permits its Notaries to perform Remote Online Notarizations (RON).
